My father died earlier this year, and I made this bowl in his memory.
It's made of oak, which is a common tree, but also a sturdy one. My father wasn't a polished man, but he was a strong one and I wanted to show that in his bowl.
As this piece neared completion, I realized that it has a small opening in the sidewall. Some people might consider this an imperfection, but I think it makes the bowl even more like him.
